Who is the Wizard?

Written by D.

There are many jokes on the internet now that refer to TOTUS, the President’s teleprompter. I hear it even has its own official seal. The references are mostly in regards to O being fed information through his teleprompter and his apparent dependency on it.

This dependency on a teleprompter by someone we were told during the campaign was highly intelligent because of his Ivy League education and speaking ability, is an interesting observation. It appears that his ability to communicate diminishes substantially without it and that is troubling.

But instead of dwelling on the teleprompter, shouldn’t the real question be who is behind the teleprompter?

Like the Wizard of Oz, the Wizard was larger than life but behind the smoke and projected image was a little man hidden behind a curtain who was the true ruler of Oz.

So shouldn’t we be asking who really rules Oz and, like Toto, pull back the curtain to expose those who are projecting the image of O as a “great and powerful” Wizard? After all, even Dorothy’s little dog Toto knew enough to sniff out a sham and expose it.

We need to start asking who is in charge? Americans need to know because we didn’t elect that person, he is neither POTUS nor TOTUS – but he appears to be in control and is formulating some very bad policy for our country.

NO THANKS, WE ALREADY HAVE ONE THAT YOU CAN’T IMPROVE UPON

Written By D.

I hear by way of American Thinker http://www.americanthinker.com/2009/03/obama_wants_you_to_pledge_loya.html  that the O Groupies are out knocking on doors trying to get people to pledge their allegiance to O.

Last I heard there was only one Pledge of Allegiance in the United States and it wasn’t a pledge of allegiance to a politician.

Now, historically, there was only one President who, theoretically, could have been King and that was George Washington. We all know George didn’t think that was a good idea and I tend to agree with him, and I would guess so do the vast majority of Americans.

Either the O Groupies never learned the basic history of our country or they chose to ignore it because they blindly place their worship of one politician ahead of all else.

So just in case they missed it – here is our country’s Pledge of Allegiance;

“I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of American, and to the Republic for which it stands: one Nation under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all.”

I also suggest that the O Groupies wake up and smell the Democracy inherent in our pledge before it is too late.

Conservatism, Politicking and Sweet, Sweet Tea.

“We are on strike, we the men of the mind. We are on strike against self-immolation. We are on strike against the creed of unearned rewards and unrewarded duties.”-John Galt “Atlas Shrugged

Sometime last year I decided I had had enough. I decided it was time to get involved, no longer sitting on the sidelines letting politics happen to me. So Friday, among the zillions of other small things I am doing to be more productive in politics, I had the opportunity to participate in a real live protest. Like thousands of others-maybe as many as 30,000 people in 50+ cities-I participated on February 27th in a “Chicago Tea Party” Rally.  Locally, at our St. Louis rally it is estimated we had over 1,000 folks show up to express our displeasure with the ridiculous pork and taxation that is coming our way from Capitol Hill. I volunteered my time to assist in the implementation, shouted and cheered during the speeches and did what I could to once more to further and promote conservative ideals.

We did, of course, have a message that we were promoting as a whole over all-repeal the pork or we’ll repeal you-something like that, which I can definitely support.  Media was everywhere; the coverage was really good and in the end, mostly balanced. The organizers and we volunteers could not have been happier to see conservatives come together for a common purpose and message. It’s about time. It was enough to almost make me tear up a little. Cool enough, we’re even planning our next event here: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=66989849578#/event.php?eid=66989849578

So what is my personal motivation? We all have a global message which the Tea Party is promoting, we’re there because we agree that government and spending are out of control and our politicians are not listening to us-but I would say everyone also has a personal reason for showing up; for having passion about this issue. Mine are many, but here are just a few:

Personal Responsibility-I believe every person is responsible for their own actions. I believe your life is what you make of it. I believe no one can pull you up or make you better-you have to do it for yourself. I believe the government LEAST OF ALL can do one thing to make you a better person or somehow enrich your life. I am sick of the notion that people are “entitled” to anything simply because they were born.  The only thing we are born entitled to is fair opportunity.

Fiscal Responsibility- My mom always taught me: Do the thing that will have the most impact while doing the least harm, in times of crisis. Just because America has a headache, does not mean, as a whole, we should be getting a lobotomy. It is insulting and maddening that Obama has forgotten there is a lot of gray between the black and white of action and inaction. (If you want to take that as a racial slight of some kind-go ahead-it wasn’t, but some would be determined to make it so.)There were hundreds of other approaches that could have been taken that would have actually helped people who need help and given stimulation to the economy. Sadly, we must also realize sometimes you gotta suck it up. Some parts of this recession just need to happen. Some things will be painful and some people will be affected. THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE. As I have said before-it is quite presumptuous to think Obama has some magical power to stop a tornado. Rather than trying to stop it, we should be looking forward to how we will move on from it.

Political Responsibility-Every day I am more concerned with the direction of our country. I grow tired of RINO’s and those in the party who are not conservative LEADERS, but only a mouthpiece. I am weary of Republicans who reach across the aisle so far they are in danger of spontaneously combusting into Democrats. When bipartisanship means Republicans will rubber stamp every bill or policy the Obama Administration puts in front of you-I want you OUT.  When you say we should accept less just to get along-YOU are excused from participating. Dear leaders, if you are not going to vote ALWAYS in the interest of conservative values and principles then PLEASE LEAVE THE PARTY-I AM DONE WITH YOU. Oh, and just so we’re clear-I don’t really care who you are.  I have never been one to go along just to get along. It’s not my style and if it’s yours….well you see where I’m going.

I tell my children all the time if you do not like something you must take action to change it. If you aren’t going to take any action, then you have absolutely no right to whine when you don’t like the results. Well folks-I am taking action. It’s time our Republican politicians actually lead and bring back the conservatism this country so desperately needs.

Politicians have never shown me the value behind being and living conservatively-my family, my friends, the people I associate with and my pride showed me that.

Socialist Blitzkrieg

Written By D.

Blitzkrieg as defined at Wikipedia; “an all-mechanized force concentrating its attack on a small section of the enemy front then, once the latter is pierced, proceeding without regard to its flank.” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blitzkrieg

In World War II, The French & English were defeated in the Battle of France by Blitzkrieg. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_France

Right now we are experiencing the Socialist political equivalent of Blitzkrieg. The liberals are concentrating on quickly destroying capitalism and enacting laws that will restrict our freedoms by using a highly mechanized force of the like-minded.  This is aimed at forcing highly unpopular government taxes and controls on the rest of us – the silent majority.

Traditional politics as played by the GOP is like a Maginot Line whose purpose is defensive. The Low Countries (RINOs) are a weak spot.  The Ardennes is the unattended forest of issues attacking our basic rights because freedom, taken for granted until now, seemed unnecessary to defend and impossible to break through.

Well folks, the tanks are rolling right over the Low Countries and they are breaking through the Ardennes. The Maginot Line is being flanked. This is not traditional politics we are facing … this is Socialist Blitzkrieg.

Do you think maybe it is time to do something? And I don’t mean retreat to the coast and hope that ships will come along and carry us to safety. In this battle for freedom no ships will be coming to save us. Yep, it’s time to take a stand, it is time to move forward and go on the political offensive.

What can the GOP do to defeat the Blitzkrieg?

1.       STOP the GOP mea culpa talk immediately. Our leaders need to take the philosophical fight to the enemy, and end the “girlie man” self recriminations.

2.       DEVELOP a clear, simple message that is easily understood by all and keep repeating it

3.       ABANDON the Maginot Line defensive attitude and go on the attack in a unified manner. The Tea Parties are a step in the right direction.

4.       IGNORE MSM criticism completely, this is no time to be sensitive about what the people who hate your guts and are out to destroy you think

5.       USE the conservative websites, blogs and social media to share and spread the message

6.       KEEP UP the pressure on elected representative at the state and federal level. Start putting that same pressure on the judicial branch, let them know you are watching and start calling for the resignations of judges who ignore our Constitution.

7.       FOCUS your criticism and stop prefacing them with complements about speaking ability or intellect.  Remember where the buck stops and that’s where you focus, forget the other lib clowns, for now. If the last 8 years were Bushes fault, then everything from here on out is O’s fault.

8.       REMEMBER this is not about you it is about the “US” in USA, so put aside any pettiness or power trips and work together. If you are in this for fame and glory you should probably join the Democrats.

9.       TALK to anyone who will listen, remember you are “PROUD TO BE A CONSERVATIVE” and unafraid to share its philosophy. You can start by asking people if they are better off now than they were a month ago and keep adding to it as the months go by.

10.   VOTE in every election like your freedom depends on it and make sure all your like-minded family and friends get out and vote

11.   JUST say no to compromise that isn’t bipartisan and to legislation that robs you of your freedom and your money.

Just remember, the French & English lost the Battle of France to Blitzkrieg, but the Americans won the Battle of the Bulge ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_the_Bulge)  because when the Germans tried the same type of Blitzkrieg tactics again in the Ardennes, the U.S. 101st Airborne Division and General McAuliffe, though surrounded, held out, kept fighting and famously said, “NUTS!” in response to German demands for surrender. General Patton arrived with the 3rd Army to relieve them – proving Blitzkrieg works both ways. Four months later the war was over, Hitler was gone and so was his brand of Socialism.

It’s Terminator Time

Written By D.

The Governor of California says he will lay off 10,000 state employees in response to the failure of the legislature to pass tax increases. The total could be 20,000 employees. That is 20,000 out of a total of 2.5 million state employees. The msm usually forgets to mention the fact that California has that many government employees.

My first question is: If you can respond to not getting your way with increased taxes and layoff 10,000 people, did you really need those employees in the first place?

My second question is: Will the taxpayers of California miss them, or even realize that they are gone?

My third question: What is more important; 10,000 government jobs or the ruin more taxes will cause to California’s economy?

People and businesses have been voting with their feet in large numbers as they flee California for friendlier economic ground. Earth to California; you have a problem and tax increases will only make it worse.

When economic times are hard, government cutbacks are in order. It seems the only people expected to make sacrifices are the taxpayers. The solution to economic problems is not more taxes, it is cutbacks, and that means shrinking the size of government.

California has more idiotic rules and regulations than any other state, you could say they are the model for Socialism in this country and that is no complement. That’s why the world’s eighth largest economy is going under fast.

Now a reasonably intelligent person would say: We have gone too far and we need to revisit our idiotic policies and make changes. We need to stop listening to and appeasing every special interest “I’ve got a gripe” group of leftwing nutcases and do only what is best for the majority of California taxpayers.

It is time for states as well as the federal government to look at ways to shrink government and reduce regulations. Reality is people in the private sector face the possibility of losing their jobs in tough economic times. While no one wants to see others lose their job, do state employees deserve to be treated differently? Are they so important and special that they should be guaranteed employment for life no matter what the cost to the taxpayers?

Rather than using layoffs as a threat, use it as a part of a plan to help relieve a government that is suffering out of control bloat. Ask yourself; exactly why is it that California taxpayers should be upset by a reduction in government employees beyond a bit of sympathy?

Prove to us that you are serious about solving the economic problems you have helped to create and you will be taken seriously. It is time to Cowboy Up and make the hard choices.

Take the TCOT Challenge

by lipstickelephant

We all know about the pork laden stimulus package that could be passed in the Senate as soon as Monday. Maybe some of you support it because you know we need to do something and this is the only alternative. Au contraire mon frere!!!! I give you: the TCOT challenge!

The plan is simple: Reduce all personal and corporate income taxes by half for the year 2009. Follow the link, tell us what YOU would do if you could keep more of your own money!!!!! Then pass it on! We have a very short time to convince our three “bipartisan” Senators (Maine’s Collins and Snowe and Pennsylvania’s Specter) that the stimulus must die. No compromise is suitable, the bill is flawed beyond rescue.

Time is of the essence. Pass the TCOT challenge on TODAY!!!

Fairness: Liberal Style

Thursday in a radio interview with Bill Press Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow (call her at 202-224-4822) had this to say about bring back the Fairness Docterine, “I think it’s time to bring accountability to the airwaves. I mean our new president has talked about accountability and transparency. You know, that we all have to stepup and be responsible. And, I think in this case, there needs to be some accountability and standards put in place.”

OK fine I’m all for transparency so let’s add some clarity to this. First of all Stabenow (call her at 202-224-4822) is married to Tom Athans who has held key positions at three liberal companies that tried to field liberal radio talk. The first was Democracy Radio which he co-founded and was the CEO until it fizzled out after three years. He then went on to that great leviathan of liberal failure Air America which is now bankrupt and for the past three years he’s been the CEO of Talk USA Radio who’s station OBAMA 1260 recently shut down. So one could say that Stabenow (call her at 202-224-4822) has a vested interest in the success of liberal talk radio. You probably also noticed two patterns that Athans seems to be the kiss of death at any company he comes to and that no matter how much money you pump into something and how much hype it gets if the public doesn’t like the product it will fail, huh that’s kind of this pile of lard stimulus package the more the public knows about it the less they like it perhaps Stabenow (call her at 202-224-4822) and the rest of the Senate should take not of that. Probably not though because they have this silly notion that they know more than the people who will actually be paying for this but anyway back to Senator Debbie Stabenow (call her at 202-224-4822)

The best part is her line about how Obama has called for “transparency and accountability.” Huh, well if those things were really important to Stabenow (call her at 202-224-4822) then why oh why did she vote to confirm the tax-cheat Timothy Geithner? Where’s the accountability there? Well it was an honest mistake, oh please if you or I had tried to get away with what he did we’d be in jail. When the tax cheat Tom Daschel dropped out as Obama’s nominee for Head of Health and Human Services Stabenow (call her at 202-224-4822) lamented this saying “I’m very sorry that that happened. He’s a great leader and would have made a real difference in health care.” What are you sorry about Debbie? Are you sorry that he resigned in a cloud of shame or that he got caught? And I’m sick and tired of this “We’ll he’s the best candidate for the job” line B.S.! There are other more qualified people out there and America deserves better then to have a bunch of tax cheats and liars leading us, there are plenty of them there and they should be voted out because America can do better.

The problem is that Stabenow (call her at 202-224-4822) and the rest of her liberal colleagues don’t understand the free market. People will buy, support, listen to what they want not what the government tells them to. Talk radio hosts like Rush Limbaugh are successful because they are informative, entertaining, and on point. If people believed in liberal policies and wanted to hear them trumpeted every day Keith Olbermann(the antithesis of accountability) would have 20 million viewers a day and MSNBC would be the most watched network but people don’t which is why Rush has 20 million listeners and Olbermann has been finishing a distant second or third in the his 8 o’clock time slot. In fact the least watched program on Fox News Channel has more viewers than the most watched show on MSNBC.

You might have noticed that I’d like you to call Debbie Stabenow and even if you don’t live in Michigan I’d still encourage you to give her a call because she wants to silence at least half the country by destroying talk radio as we know it and perhaps Debbie would do well to actually listen to the people of America before threatening the First amendment. So give her a call at 202-224-4822.

Oh and as a final note Bill Press is a flaming liberal so it isn’t as though the left has no voice on the radio.

Same Message; Different President

by lipstickelephant

Today President Obama said that “failure to act [on the stimulus bill] would turn crisis into catastrophe”. Isn’t that essentially the same line we were fed by President Bush in the days leading up to the 700 billion dollar bailout? The same message that scared some of us into supporting a bailout that we once opposed? The same bailout that we have no idea where half the money went and the other half hasn’t even been spent? The same bailout that required such urgent action that nobody had a chance to truly dissect it and think of better alternatives?

I’m sorry–fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. America should be ashamed if they let another politician scare them into supplication.

February 3rd, 2009

Is this really helping?

I, like you, have been doing a lot of thinking the past few days, since this stupid Porkulous Crap-a-Rama Bailout came down the pike. I have come to the conclusion that any form of the current package is unneeded and a complete waste of money. I’m wondering….are things really getting worse? Look at the whole economy-look at people you know. I know there have been lay-offs, I know people are having a hard time getting credit, but are things on the brink of implosion if we don’t take some kind of action. I’m sorry-I just don’t believe it any more. Even now, people are getting by, though things are tight. I believe the general population is coming up with creative ways to deal with the facts as they are. I believe the general population is going to be ok.

The government tries to force this piece of trash down our throats with the threat that if we don’t do something immediately everything is going to hell-in-a-hand basket. Ironically, they have been saying that for about 4 months. I know certain sectors are hurting. I do believe a few very specific programs could be enacted to provide some relief. But that is it, nothing more. The government cannot spend us out of this mess. We are figuring it out without them.

Here are a few examples of policies I think would actually help people, more so than Porkulous:

  • Extend and maybe even slightly increase unemployment benefits for the next 12 months with a review of that policy at the end of the term.
  • Suspend all federal payroll taxes for 6 months to 1 year
  • Tell the credit card companies there will be a freeze on rate increases to all borrowers for 12 months and maybe permanently. At this time they are raising rates and fees to all borrowers and more so to those who can afford it the least. They really need to stop-it is on the verge of being predatory and that is illegal. On top of everything, several of these companies have benefitted from the TARP Bailout fiasco-so if you have that credit card-you get screwed coming and going. You paid to bail them out, now they are shrinking your credit line and raising your fees. Ridiculous.
  • Put a stop to the oil companies lowering output, making record profits and raising gas prices, even now, with barrels of oil staying around $30-$40 per barrel. This is a basic commodity that nearly every citizen must have; in addition it affects almost every other industry. Keeping these prices low, at least for now, is very important.

Keep in mind a few things-I am not in favor of any government regulations-if enacted-being made permanent. I think they should be reviewed and probably repealed once recovery is happening. Also, these are just a few examples; I’m sure a few more could be added that would be of value to aid the actual people. The bigger point I am making is this-none of the things I have come up with would require new bureaucracies and very little (if any) new spending-very little. What they would require is cutting fat from our current budget. It would require hard work on the part of the government for once, instead of the people they claim to serve. As Obama and Biden believe and tell us all the time “It won’t be easy, government, but cutting back and doing YOUR part government, is the patriotic thing.”

The truth is, during this recession some segments will be hurt, some seriously-even devastated-but we should not panic and give the entire population radical brain surgery when some folks only have a headache.

So Long Statute of Limitations; Hello Lily Ledbetter

by lipstickelephant

I may have to convince myself to get rid of my television because it seems like everytime I turn it on I get to see President Obama making yet another asinine decision. Truly, it’s almost not worth the annoyance it causes me.

Lo and behold, I turn on the tube this morning and there’s Mr. President, all grins, signing into law the Lily Ledbetter Act. What the Ledbetter Act will do, essentially, is nearly eliminate the time limits imposed on Title VII discrimination claims. According to Title VII, a wronged employee had 180 days from the discriminatory action to file a claim against their employer.  The Ledbetter Act states that each time a paycheck is issued, the discriminatory act occurs and the statute of limitations begins anew.

Andrew Grossman points out that there are more moderate solutions that would solve the issue with Title VII:

[One] option is to augment the current limitations period with a carefully drafted “discovery rule” so that the time limit on suing begins running only when an employee reasonably suspects, or should reasonably suspect, that he or she has been discriminated against.

http://www.heritage.org/Research/LegalIssues/wm2236.cfm

It seems to me that that would solve the problem without giving people an endless amount of time in which to file their claims. I’m guessing that sort of provision won’t line the pockets of the trial attorneys so many Democrats are beholden to.

Get ready for some serious discrimination suits to come crawling out of the woodwork. I’m so glad too, a more litigous society is just what we need. Feminists need not complain when companies begin screening employees for those who seem more likely to file lawsuits–they brought this on themselves.
